
Receiving spam and viruses by email is a growing problem. Elite have teamed up with Sophos, a world leader in this field, to provide a comprehensive and effective solution. There are separate Spam Filtering and Virus Protection systems, allowing users to choose the type of cover they require.
The Virus Protection uses an evolving technique which enables unknown viruses to be stopped, as well as known viruses. All executable content in emails is checked to ensure virusues have the minimum chance of reaching users.
The Spam Filtering allows user to assess the emails captured by the filter to ensure that all required emails are received. It also allows the user to block or approve senders to make the filter more specific to the users' needs.
Virus Protection
How it works
Emails are checked for virus and mass-mailing worms in real-time as they come throught the gateway. All executable files are automatically inspected for malicious code and the appropriate action is taken.

Genotype Technology - Approximation methods are used to detect new variants of known virus families, to protect before specific protection is available.
Threat reduction technology - This prevents unknown worms from being received by checking all emails for executable content and then implementing the correct actions.

Spam Filtering
The problem of receiving spam email is growing, people are finding it's taking longer and longer in the morning to delete all of their junk emails. Many current filtering services are unable to successfully block all unwanted emails, yet still manage to block messages we want to receive. Our Spam Filtering allows the user to adapt the settings to meet their needs, but also has global administrator control to ensure the user has the correct level of protection.
How it works
EMails are filtered using a point scoring system. These points are scored from a number of tests which search for the characteristics of spam and offensive content. These points are then converted into a probabilty rating, messages with a certain probability of being spam will be quarantined. The quarantined messages can be viewed either being received by email at set times, or by accessing the web-based user interface.
Features and Benefits
Blacklists and Whitelists - Email addresses can be added to the global list by the Administrator, this ensures the correct action will be taken with well known email addresses. Users can also add email addresses specific to themselves, allowing the filtering to be more suited to their use.
Email Quarantine - All emails that are deemed to have a spam probabilty that is too high are stored at the gateway. This list will be emailed to the user at specified intervals or can be accessed at any time through the web based user interface. From this list messages that are not spam can be sent on to the recipient and the sender added to the Approved Senders list, any unwanted messages can be deleted.
Temporary Hold - This function allows the user to request that the quarantined messages are kept longer than the standard 14 days. This ensures users do not lose any messages when they are on holiday or extended leave.
Automatic Updates - Spam patterns are constantly being analysed, this means that users will always be protected from the newest types of spam.
